My daughter hasn't played this game too much, because she got very frustrated with it almost immediately. It has been awhile since she played it because she prefers smartgirl's playhouse because it's so much easier for her to figure out. But I seem to remember that there were some parts in this game where you have to read the instructions. I could be remembering wrong though. But I do remember that she got very frustrated with several of the games.....they were too hard for her because of having to be pretty precise with tracing drawings, and having to be coordinated enough to move back and forth with the keypad to predict where a fruit is going to fall and hit it on a pillow once or twice to get it in a basket. There were other games that she was frustrated with. She actually cried with this game. And she yelled and screamed. She got very frustrated, and now if I ask her if she wants to play it, she says no.
Perhaps an older child who can be more skilled in fine motor skills, and who has the patience needed for this game, would like it.Get more detail about Barbie: Island Princess.
